This is our ‘stomping ground’ and we know you’ll love it too!
Sydney’s 16 magnificent northern beaches' stretch from famous Manly to the celebrity playground of Palm Beach. Their sweeping sands and vast array of reef and beach breaks are home to some of the biggest names in world surfing. Every day we feel so incredibly lucky to call them our home – these beautiful beaches are our ‘backyard’.
One of our favourite ways to spend a lazy Sydney day is to take a leisurely drive along Sydney’s northern coast – we love sharing this experience with you and revealing the secrets these gorgeous beaches hold. Along the way we’ll show you our favourite surfing spots and secluded seaside corners as well as the two surf clubs where we’re members and volunteer as lifesavers.
Our destination is Palm Beach, a stunning peninsula that forms Sydney’s most northern tip – it’s also the spectacular backdrop for the hit TV show Home and Away and a secluded celebrity haunt. To us, it’s ‘Palmie’ … Jamie’s childhood home, a special place embracing natural wonders, rich history and hidden secrets.
We head home via the sheltered waterway of Pittwater and Broken Bay – it’s actually larger than Sydney Harbour, with a myriad of more dazzling vistas and secret nooks.
On this one special day, you too become an ‘honorary local’ – as you immerse yourself in our lifestyle and Sydney’s beach culture.
The Highlights
‘Live’ the stories that make our gorgeous beaches so very special
Our first stop is Manly and spectacular North Head so you can gain your bearings and take in the stunning view across to Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge, out to the Pacific Ocean and along the coastline.
Next we’ll call in at Freshwater Beach – we’re members of the surf club here so we’ll take you inside the club and show you some surf lifesaving memorabilia and the surf craft we use for competition and lifesaving. We’ll also enjoy a coffee at Pilu, a gorgeous cafe nestled above the beach.
In contrast, is the sweeping panorama of our next stop – Long Reef. Our journey continues to Bilgola Headland which offers yet another seascape – the views here are breathtaking. Flanked by a rainforest escarpment, Bilgola Beach is another intimate seaside hideaway and the ‘Bilgola bends’ that wind around the cliff are the gateway to Avalon, Whale Beach and Palm Beach, which is where we’re heading for lunch.
After relaxing at one of our favourite beach cafés, we’ll stroll along the lapping shores of the yachties’ paradise of Pittwater and through native bushland to iconic Barrenjoey Lighthouse. The views here are simply amazing, stretching beyond Sydney to the northern coast of NSW and back along the incredible stretch of golden sands and sparkling waters that make Palm Beach a lure for luxury travellers from around the world. We’ll wander back along the beach and show you Palm Beach Surf Club, where we’re also members.
On your day exploring Sydney’s northern beaches you’ll not only ‘live’ our stories, but also create plenty of your own to share when you return to your ‘stomping ground’.
Good To Know
Your Experience is private – for individuals, couples or your group of up to 7 people. The natural vista of Sydney’s northern beaches is ever-changing, always magical and you can experience its wonders with us in all seasons. Lunch, refreshments and a sundowner are included in your experience, as well as snacks and water throughout the day. The walk to Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a moderate climb that takes about 30 minutes each way. We’ll also be strolling to some spectacular headlands during the day – these walks are easy and relaxing. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a hat and your swimmers – we’ll supply the beach towels and sunscreen. If you’re a surfer, you’re welcome to bring your board – or, you can borrow one of ours. This experience is a lens buff’s delight.
Your Food – Let us know if you have any dietary preferences or requirements, including gluten-free, lactose intolerant, vegetarian or vegan so we can plan for lunch.
Your Transfers – We’ll collect you from your hotel at 8.30am in our luxury touring vehicle and drop you back at about 5.45pm. The drive to Palm Beach from the city is generally just under an hour, but we’ll be taking a little longer to show you the sights along the way.
