Hunter Valley Tours

What We Do

Escape to Australia’s home of award-winning wines

About two hours northwest of Sydney is one of our favourite parts of regional New South Wales – and our passion for the magnificent Hunter Valley which is shared by travellers from around the world.

There are nearly 200 vineyards nestled in the valley and we’ll show you three that we think capture the true essence and character of this world-famous and award-winning wine region.

Each offers a very different experience, but all are synonymous with the Hunter and will delight your palate with the fruits of their top end old vine production. Specialties of the region include Semillon, Shiraz and an array of Chardonnays.

Along the way, we’ll pass through some of Australia’s most spectacular countryside in a region that’s as famous for its horse culture as its wines … it all adds to the flavour of a magical day experiencing this gorgeous area through our local eyes.

The Highlights

Interactive, fascinating and fun – an experience to stimulate your palate and your mind …

The scenic drive north in our luxury vehicle is a little more than two hours and we’ll break it up with morning tea at the quaint valley outpost of Laguna. Then, our wine adventure begins …

First up, we’ll visit a fourth-generation family vineyard.  Here you’ll marvel at the colourful rows of healthy vines – and, the bulging trophy cabinets.  The Tyrells name is etched deeply in Hunter Valley folklore and this family winery is recognised for both its top end vintages and its wide-ranging choice of varieties.

Next we’ll visit one of just three Estates in the valley – another family affair, Tinklers is boutique in size, but big on experience.  For more than an century, the Tinkler family has been producing award winning single vineyard wine in small batches.  Under the shelter of its vintage peppercorn trees, you’ll delight in Tinklers’ tastes and be intrigued by the innovation that saw Ian Tinkler honoured as the 2009 Hunter Valley Viticulturist of the Year.

The third vineyard we visit is your choice …

We can either enjoy a private wine tasting in the beautiful garden setting of Pepper Tree winery, followed by a lazy lunch at nearby Circa 1876 restaurant with its Chef Hat awarded cuisine …

Or, we can visit another fourth-generation winery and discover why the Tulloch dynasty has basked in the world’s wine limelight for so many years … followed by more café-style luncheon at Enzo, which is set in a Tuscan inspired village and features a charming courtyard.

After lunch we’ll taste a slice of local culture with a stroll through one of the valley’s towns before heading home – on the drive back to Sydney there’ll be plenty to chat about, or you can simply relax in comfort and reflect on an amazing day.

This is a day to delight your palate and your senses as you immerse yourself in this world-famous wine region. We’ve selected the wineries we think you’ll enjoy the most, but if there’s something else you’d like to do during your time in the Hunter, please let us know.
